  11. I currently own a generic 14.4 modem and am thinking about upgrading to
  12. a 28.8.  Some questions:

  14. 1) What is V.42 and V.34.  I know they relate to data compression and
  15. error correction, but which is better?

  17. 2) How much can I expect my internet performance improve? Is a 28.8
  18. double the speed of a 14.4 or is it some multiple?

  20. 3) Which one to buy?  Thinking about a Hayes Accura because they are
  21. always on the software lists?  I'd like to spemd $150 or less.  Please
  22. advise.
